MEMORANDUM.

Kowloon-Railway Terminus.

152

The Railway terminus to be located on the sea front at Tsim Sha Tsui.

An interchange of land to be arranged in accordance with the respective debit and credit accounts enclosed, from which it will be seen that:-

(a) The Wharf Company relinquish their Marine Lots facing South in exchange for the Police basin and other quid pro quo (mentioned hereafter).

(b) The Land Reclamation Company relinquish their Karine Lots facing South taking in exchange the Inland Lots behind.

The Wharf Company to give up the existing Ferry Pier at the end of Salisbury Road (which can be utilised as a Public Pier) in exchange for a pier of larger dimensions where the Police pier now

is.

This new pier would become the Railway and Ferry pier combin- -ed. It would be constructed at Government expense and handed over to the Wharf Company as part of the exchange.

This arrangement will be an advantage in that the Railway

ferry combined with the existing ferry will permit of a 5 minuts:

service during the busy hours of the day.

A siding to be run into the Wharf Company's premises from

the Station along the Praya - round the bend and acros8

Salisbury Road.

The present road leading from Police Pier to Salisbury Road

to be widened to say 100 feet and the Urinal removed.

Salisbury Road to be curved into Chatham Road at Blackhead's

corner.

Traffic from both the Public Pier and Ferry Pier would flow on the North side of the Railway unimpeded by crossings.

The Railway terminus would be brought as near as it is possible to Hongkong and Railway passengers to and from the Ferry would have a very short distance to walk.
